Strengthen the Country with Science and Technology, and Strive Ahead Teachers and Students visiting Huairou Science City, organized by IMI

In this golden autumn with fragrant falling flowers, IMI organized a study tour to Huairou Science City for its teachers and students as one of the Institutes "I Do Practical Things for the Masses" series on September 9. More than 40 in total, including the leadership group of IMI, the members of the Office Party Branch, and some teachers & students from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Mathematics and Physics, the Institute of Advanced Materials and Technology and the School of ComputerCommunication Engineering, attended the event.





As a main supporting area for China to become a modern science and technology power and break through its initial innovation capability, Huairou Science City is not only the core project to fullfil the strategic positioning of the capital as a science and technology innovation center in the new round of Beijing’s urban overall planning, but also an important support to the national science and technology centers. During the tour, the visitors from IMI further learned through the explanation of the guide that Huairou Science City has planned its “one-core and four-zone” spatial functional layout, with a planned area of about 100.9 square kilometers based on the basic principles of future-oriented goals, open cooperation, comprehensive reform and intensive development. With great interest and admiration, teachers and students visited successively Huairou Science City Management Committee, Institute of Physics CAS, Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems CAS , Grimat Engineering Institute Co,.Ltd. and so on.



In the Huairou Science City Innovation Exhibition Center, the guide introduced the development history, spatial layout, current situation and future planning of the City, then all the staff watched its promotion video. In the Institute of Physics CAS, they visited the MA five-story platform, the clean energy exhibition hall and the laboratory, as well as the X2 quantum control building. At the Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems CAS, the guide showed them around the display boards and briefly introduced the general situation of the Institute. During the visit, teachers and students consulted the guide about the functions of some scientific research facilities and the specific planning of related projects every now and then. Arriving at Grimat Engineering Institute Co,.Ltd., they visited its exhibition room and the State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Sensing Functional Materials, etc. Then came the symposium, where they listened to the work reports both of Grimat Engineering Institute Co,.Ltd. and IMI of University of Science and Technology Beijing, with views exchanged on their future cooperation in scientific research projects and talent exchange.



The tour is an important activity organized by IMI with careful contact and arrangement in advance, in order to further broaden the scientific vision of its teachers and students, to improve the integration of interdisciplinary subjects and to enhance its cohesion between its staff and students. During the tour, everyone has a deeper understanding in the firm deployment of China to become a powerful nation through science and technology. They recognized their roles and responsibilities in the great cause of national rejuvenation. It also inspired the determination and faith of the teachers and students to make greater contributions to the university’s "Double First-Class" construction and the prosperity of our motherland.
